FAQs

Kombucha

Kombucha is a fermented tea beverage, made by adding a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (scoby), to a solution of tea and sugar. During the course of the fermentation process, the cultures metabolise the sugar and tea components to produce a naturally carbonated beverage, with a slightly sweet-tart flavour, full of healthy components like B vitamins, organic acids, antioxidants, and with trace amounts of alcohol (<0.5%).

Kombucha beverages intentionally brewed with higher amounts of alcohol (>0.5%) using a secondary fermentation process, are deemed alcoholic beverages for consumption by adults 18+ years of age, and are subject to the laws that regulate the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages.

HALO Alcoholic Kombucha

HALO Alcoholic Kombucha uses a proprietary two-stage fermentation process, using additional sugars and yeasts in a controlled secondary fermentation, to increase the level of alcohol to 4.0% abv. All sugars are consumed during the fermentation process, which is why HALO Alcoholic Kombucha is brewed better for you, with less than 0.1 gram of sugar and 0.5 carbs per can.

It's pretty simple. A halo indicates a good person, and ours indicates a good brew. #goodpeopledrinkhalo.

HALO is a deliciously refreshing beverage - which you can drink straight from the can - but we think it's best served on ice, in a big glass.

HALO has a small amount of naturally-occurring caffeine, as it contains organic tea, however, this is much less than a standard cup of tea, per serve.

HALO contains organic raw kombucha, organic teas, fully fermented sugars, water, natural flavours and a hint of natural sweetener for balance.

Yes! No animal-derived products are used in the production of HALO.

Yes! HALO is gluten free. And we also test our brews for gluten and nutritional content information at ALS Global Labs (Sydney, Australia).

You can find the nutritional information on the back of every HALO can and carton. The nutritional information is also presented under the "add to cart" button on the individual HALO flavour pages on this website.

For the best taste experience, we recommend HALO be kept refrigerated at all times - or at a minimum, stored in a dry cool dark place.

HALO is an alcoholic beverage and, as such, needs to be consumed responsibly. In creating HALO, we simply wanted to give consumers premium refreshing drinking options, with lower abvs (4.0%), organic and natural ingredients, and very low levels of sugar, carbs, and calories, compared with other alcoholic beverage alternatives.

Yes, absolutely! It’s flavourless and a natural part of our production process. There are no artificial flavours or colours used in the production of HALO.
